soft sugar cookies on a plate

This is my kids’ favorite soft sugar cookie recipe. In fact, they always exclaim that “They’re just like the ones with the frosting and sprinkles at the store!” Win!

They’re melt-in-your-mouth, flavorful, gluten-free, and easy to customize for holidays throughout the year. The best part, however, is that this recipe comes together in a cinch. (Another win!)

Enjoy!

Making Frosting for Soft Sugar Cookies

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and enough water to achieve desired consistency. If you would like to tint your frosting with food coloring, now is the time. After frosting the cookies with a spatula or a piping bag, decorate with sprinkles for the holidays as desired.
