I’m Kerri. A wife and homeschool mom of three from the Midwest. I’m glad you’re here, and I hope you find something that inspires you to learn, create, or explore God’s creation with your family. Here’s what you’ll find here at The Sunny Wren:
Homeschooling Resources
Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life.
Charlotte Mason
I find it hard to believe we’re in the midst of our sixth year of homeschooling. The homeschool way of life has been an enormous blessing for our family in a multitude of ways. We are constantly learning, continuing to build on a beautiful family rhythm, facing challenges, and celebrating victories together. My husband and I are so thankful for the gift of time to enjoy and teach our children, and we’re so glad we stepped off into the unknown-to-us (back then, anyway,) world of homeschooling.
Browse through the blog to discover ideas for homeschool planning, our favorite curriculums, book recommendations, plans for incorporating nature study, and tips for bringing music into your homeschool. My hope is that writing about our experiences will leave you inspired to light a fire for learning at home (or on the road!)
Speaking of being on the road…
Tips for Exploring
Learning doesn’t just happen in the home, it happens everywhere you go! I am not the type of person who likes to stay home for too long (a trait I most definitely inherited from my grandmother,) so I make it a point to get us “out there” and explore whenever our schedule allows. On the blog, you’ll find ideas and guides for field trips and tips for crafting an educational experience when you’re on the road traveling. You’ll also discover stories & tips from some of our family’s favorite adventures (day trips & multi-day vacations,) around the Midwest and beyond.
Simple Recipes
As I write this in mid-August, our kitchen is a busy place. Thanks to our gardens, there is a lot of canning, freezing, and dehydrating going on. Besides preserving the goodness for later, we use our fresh produce in as many recipes as we can. In our home, two of us are gluten-free and we all try our best to avoid processed foods. We have so much fun spending time in the kitchen experimenting with recipes to make them a better fit for our family.
Aside from cooking delicious meals, our older two children love to bake, so you’ll be able to find some of their tried-and-true favorite baking recipes here, too.
Thanks for visiting! I hope you’ll stay a while and discover something that inspires you to learn, create, or explore with you family.
Looking forward to hearing from you in the comments,
Kerri
