Tulip Time | Pella, Iowa

If you’re Iowa local-ish, I urge you to plan a trip to Pella for their annual Tulip Time.

“Dutch costumes and demonstrations, performances, a craft and vendor fair, quilt and flower shows, and beautiful tulip gardens! All of these activities are set in picturesque Pella, Iowa, a charming Dutch community with parks and architecture reminiscent of historic Netherlands, ” (from their website.)

We arrived in Pella on Friday, May 3 and attended their nighttime lighted parade– it was COOL. Their parade is a can’t miss event!

Since Pella is SO close to Lake Red Rock, we made this adventure a camping trip. We stayed at Wallashuck Campground. We had beautiful weather (dare I say, the only beautiful weather Iowa had in May?) We would absolutely camp there again. The campground was clean, spacious, and quiet. Right off of the campground is a fantastic paved trail around the edge of the lake.

The part of the trail we followed was about 2 miles long round trip– long enough that our kiddos were still enjoying themselves when we were finished.

Side note: If you’re in the market for a double stroller– I’d highly recommend this one from Graco. We use it all the time.

Happy summer! I hope you find time to fit in some fun adventures!
